Variety Applications of 5083 aluminum alloy

Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, lightweight and other characteristics, 5083 aluminum alloy is widely used in ships, vehicle materials, air storage tanks, fuel tanks, hardware products, passenger car glass elevators, electrical housing, new energy battery housing, and LNG storage tanks, etc.

5083 aluminum coil for LNG solid storage

LNG storage tanks are mostly made of 5083 alloy, the amount of aluminum in each tank exceeds 1100tons, accounting for 82% of the total, the tank body, tank bottom and tank top are welded from aluminum, the thickness of 6 ~ 70mm, the top frame is welded and assembled with extruded profiles, the mass is about 50tons, accounting for 9.2%, and some pipes, castings, die castings and forgings are also used. That’s about 8.8%. 5083 aluminum alloy has high tensile strength, high elongation, easy surface treatment, good bending workability, lightweight, strong corrosion resistance and other advantages, and is widely used in LNG tanks, such as IHI SPB tank, MOSS tank, LNT A-BOX tank, and the construction of LNG storage tanks.
